West Caldwell Man Charged with Shoplifting Appliances

Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Michael DiOrio (30) of West Caldwell for shoplifting on April 14, 2017. On that date, at approximately 4:12 PM, officers were dispatched to the Target store, located on Route 46 East, on a report of a shoplifting incident that was in progress.

When the officers arrived, they waited outside and were being given updates by Target security regarding the suspect. It is alleged that DiOrio put approximately $700.00 worth of kitchen appliances into a shopping cart and then attempted to push it out of the doors without ever attempting to pay for it. He was arrested by Officers James High Jr., Christopher Nicholas and Sergeant Christopher Niemiec.

He was eventually released on his own recognizance pending an initial appearance in the Essex County Superior Court in Newark, N.J. on April 26, 2017

(It should be noted that the charges against DiOrio are merely allegations and that he is presumed innocent until he either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law)
