Lake Hopatcong Man Arrested for Heroin Possession and Shoplifting

Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Anthony Bellina (31) of Lake Hopatcong, N.J. for possession of heroin and shoplifting on April 18, 2017. On that date, at approximately 7:43 P.M., Fairfield officers responded to the Target store located on Route 46, after being informed by asset protection personnel that there was a shoplifting incident that was in progress.

As Fairfield officers arrived, Bellina was taken into custody by an asset protection officer when he allegedly tried to walk out of the store with approximately $150.00 worth of baby formula concealed in his backpack. Bellina was then placed under arrest. It is alleged, that during the search conducted incidental to his arrest, the officers found a small quantity of suspected heroin in his pants pocket.

After being charged it was discovered that Bellina had an active arrest warrant issued by the Roxbury Municipal Court. He was released on his own recognizance on the Fairfield charges and turned over to the custody of the Roxbury Police Department.

(It should be noted that the charges against Bellina are merely allegations and that he is presumed innocent until he either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law)
