Parking Violation Leads to Marijuana Arrest

Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Tumba Cool (36) of East Orange, N.J. for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia on October 3, 2017. On that date, at approximately 9:55 AM, Officer Christopher Yoo was on patrol in the parking lot of the Target store located on Route 46. He allegedly observed a 2007 Cadillac Escalade standing in the fire zone with tinted windows, in violation of a local ordinance and state law. When the vehicle entered onto the highway, the officer initiated a traffic stop.

A computer inquiry immediately indicated that the driver, identified as Cool, had a suspended driver’s license and an active arrest warrant issued by the Bloomfield Municipal Court. Cool was placed under arrest and it is alleged that the officer observed drug paraphernalia and a small quantity of suspected marijuana. He was transported to police headquarters for processing.

In addition to the criminal charges, Cool was also given summonses for parking in a fire zone, having tinted windows, driving while suspended and being in possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He posted bail on the outstanding warrant and was eventually released from custody pending an October 12, 2017 appearance in the Fairfield Municipal Court.

(It should be noted that the charges against Cool are merely allegations and that he is presumed innocent until he either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law)
