Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of James Casapulla (21) of Wantage, N.J. for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia on Jul 20, 2013. At approximately 2:34 A.M., Officer R.J. Casendino stopped a vehicle on Route 80 westbound for allegedly failing to maintain a lane. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer allegedly detected a pungent smell of burnt marijuana. When confronted with the observation, the lone driver, identified as Casapulla, allegedly turned over a small quantity of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia to the officer. Casapulla was arrested without incident.
In addition to the criminal charges, Casapulla was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, failure to maintain a lane, and improper maintenance of lamps. He was released on his own recognizance and given an initial court appearance date of July 25, 2013 in the Fairfield Municipal Court. (It should be noted that the charges against Casapulla are merely allegations and that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law)
