Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Florencio Hernandes (45) of Passaic, N.J. for driving while under the influence on September 7, 2013. At approximately 10:31 P.M., Fairfield police monitored a radio transmission on the State Police Emergency Network reporting a possible drunk driver traveling on Route 46 West in the area of Wayne. The vehicle’s description and license plate were also broadcast.
Shortly after hearing this transmission, Officers Christopher Nicholas and Raymond Puluse spotted the vehicle near the Crowne Plaza strip mall. The officers allegedly observed the vehicle commit several motor vehicle violations. The vehicle was then stopped. As a result of the officers’ observations, Hernandes was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for breath testing.
Hernandes was later charged with driving while under the influence, driving while under the influence in a school zone, failure to maintain a lane, careless driving and for being an unlicensed driver.. He was released on his own recognizance. (It should be noted that the charges against Hernandes are merely allegations and that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law)
