Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Michael Nash (62) of Kearny, N.J. for driving under the influence on November 4, 2013. On that date, at approximately 9:41 P.M., Officer Jeffrey Dean allegedly observed a 1987 Chevrolet traveling west on Route 46 having difficulty maintaining a single lane. The officer conducted a check on the vehicle’s registration which resulted in the discovery that the registered owner had a suspended New Jersey license. As a result the vehicle was stopped on Hollywood Avenue. The driver was identified as Nash, the registered owner.
The officer conducted a roadside investigation which included the administering of field sobriety testing. As a result, Nash was placed under arrest without incident and his vehicle was impounded pursuant to New Jersey law. Nash was transported to police headquarters for breath testing.
In addition to the driving under the influence charge, Nash was also charged with operating a motor vehicle while his license was suspended, having an open container of an alcoholic beverage in his vehicle and failing to maintain a lane. He was eventually released on his own recognizance with a pending court date of November 14, 2013 in the Fairfield Municipal Court. (It should be noted that the charges against Nash are merely allegations and that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law)
