Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Richard Penkoski Jr (37) of Fairfield, N.J. for burglary and theft on November 7, 2013. On November 3, 2013, the Fairfield police responded to a Toll Terrace residence to investigate a report of a burglary and theft. At that time, the victim reported that while they were out of state, unknown actor(s) illegally entered their garage and stole two plastic water bottles containing loose change.
An investigation conducted by Detective Sergeant Charles Zampino and Detective Michael Nyhuis resulted in information being obtained that Penkoski, a resident of Little Falls Road, was allegedly observed in the garage while the victims were away. It is further alleged that the victims did not authorize him to be there.
Penkoski was arrested on November 7, 2013 after coming to police headquarters to meet with the investigators. He was charged at that time with the crimes. He was eventually released on his own recognizance pending a court date in the Superior Court in Newark, N.J. (It should be noted that the charges against him are merely allegations and that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law)
