Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department recently deployed Colt M-4 Commando rifles in their patrol vehicles after 12 officers completed qualifications with the weapon as mandated by the New Jersey Attorney General. The authorization to purchase the weapons came quickly from the Fairfield Governing Body after recent national tragedies revealed the use of automatic weapons by the suspects during many of the incidents.
“With the deployment of these weapons, Fairfield officers are now better prepared and better equipped to protect our citizens” said Chief Charles Voelker. “I would like to thank the Mayor and Council for providing us with this necessary equipment to help us in this endeavor” said the chief.
