Lyndhurst Man Arrested for Driving Under the Influence
Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield police Department announces the arrest of Lenny Vega (42) of Lyndhurst, N.J. for driving while under the influence on January 7, 2014. On that date, at approximately 9:36 P.M., Officer John McGrory was on patrol on Passaic Avenue when he allegedly observed a 1997 Honda travelling north that was having difficulty maintaining a lane. The vehicle was then stopped on Two Bridges Road.
During the course of the traffic stop, the officer allegedly made observations that led him to believe that Vega may be under the influence. Field sobriety tests were administered and as a result of the totality of the circumstances, Vega was placed under arrest for driving under the influence without incident. His vehicle was impounded pursuant to New Jersey law. He was then transported to police headquarters.
In addition to being charged with driving under the influence, Vega was also charged with driving under the influence within a school zone, careless driving, failure to maintain a lane and failure to inspect. He was eventually released on his own recognizance with an initial court appearance date in the Fairfield Municipal Court on January 9, 2014. (It should be noted that the charges against Vega are merely allegations and that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law)
