Suspicious Activity in Hotel Parking Lot Leads to Drug Arrest
Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Joseph Desmond (20) of Totowa, N.J. for possession of less than 50 grams and for being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance on July 11, 2014. On that date, at approximately 11:00 PM, Officer Steven D’Argenio was on patrol in the parking lot of the LaQuinta hotel, located at 38 Two Bridges Road, when he observed several individuals gathered around a 1998 Mazada. The officer then made contact with the individuals.
During the course of the encounter, the officer allegedly noticed that Desmond displayed symptoms consistent with those of an individual under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. Further investigation allegedly revealed the discovery of a quantity of suspected marijuana. Desmond was placed under arrest without incident and transported to headquarters where he was processed. He was eventually released on his own recognizance pending an appearance in the Fairfield Municipal Court on July 23, 2014. No other arrests were made.
(It should be noted that the charges against Desmond are merely allegations and that he is presumed innocent until if or when he pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law)
