Fire Destroys Fairfield Residence

Fairfield (NJ) On May 20, 2023, at approximately 1:04 PM, the Fairfield Police Department received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a house fire on Glenroy Road South. Police and fire units were immediately dispatched to the location. First responding officers found a working fire inside of the home. The occupants of the residence had all evacuated safely prior to police arrival.

The Fairfield Fire Department, along with fire departments from North Caldwell, West Caldwell, Lincoln Park, Pinebrook, Wayne, Verona, and Little Falls, responded and battled the blaze for approximately one and a half hours. The fire was extinguished by approximately 2:30 PM.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Fairfield Fire Prevention Bureau assisted by the Fairfield Police Department. Preliminary investigation indicates that the resident had initially heard something popping. When she went to investigate, she observed a fire in a back room.

“While any fire is extremely devastating and traumatic, thankfully this one occurred while the residents were up and about and were able to get out unharmed. Had this occurred overnight, it could have had a much different result” said Chief Anthony G. Manna. “Our tremendous and compassionate community residents are already working on how we can help this family” said the chief.
