Lieutenant Frank Tracey

Administrative Section Commander

Lieutenant Frank Tracey began his career in Fairfield in 2000 as a police dispatcher.  In 2001, he was hired as a police officer by the Borough of North Caldwell where he served for three years.  He returned to Fairfield in 2004 and was hired as a police officer in the Patrol Section.  During that time, he became a field training officer and took an active role in mentoring new police officers.  He was promoted to sergeant in 2017 and supervised a patrol squad for the next four years.  In 2021, Frank was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to command the Administrative Section.  He currently supervises all back-end responsibilities of the police department including training, information technology, community policing and fleet maintenance.  Lieutenant Tracey’s passion is teaching, and he has devoted his professional life to ensuring police officers have the best training available to constantly enhance their professional skills.  He is a certified Police Training Commission academy instructor and is also proud to be a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

 

Administrative Section

 

The Administrative Section is located in the Special Services Division and is responsible for services that the public both sees and often doesn’t see. This includes oversight of community services, honor guard, fulfilling discovery for court cases and Open Public Records Act (OPRA) requests, the department’s information & technology, training, and department vehicles. It is also containing the Community Services Unit.
