In July, the department hosts a Junior Police Academy for children where they get an opportunity to participate in physical training, marching, defensive tactics, and learn other things about what police officers do on a daily basis including see police K-9 units training. In addition, the cadets visit the Essex County Jail and Met Life Stadium. The program culminates with a graduation ceremony attended by family and friends of the cadets.
