Captain Charles Zampino

Special Services Division Commander

Captain Charles Zampino is a graduate of Jersey City State College where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.  He graduated from the Ocean County Police Academy on December 18, 1998.  He joined the Fairfield Police Department on January 5, 1999.

 

Captain Zampino was assigned to the Patrol Section from 1999 to 2004.  During his time in the Patrol Section he was a field training officer, an EMT assigned to the Emergency Services Unit, a member of the Community Policing Unit, a drug recognition officer and a founding member of the department’s Honor Guard.

 

In September of 2004 he was assigned to the Investigative Section where he became the juvenile detective and then the narcotics detective.  On July 10, 2012, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and became the Investigative Section Commander.  On February 27, 2017, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant.  He was also put in charge of the Professional Standards Bureau.  On June 24, 2021, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and became the Special Services Division Commander.
