Connecticut Man Arrested for Assaulting Officer

Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Alexis Montanez (38) of New Britain, CT. for aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, obstruction of the administration of law, and hindering apprehension on September 21, 2022. On that date, at approximately 11:34 PM, officers were dispatched to the Hampton Inn, located on Route 46 East, on a report of multiple active fights on the second and third floors.

Upon arrival, it is alleged that officers found an irate and intoxicated Montanez outside in the parking lot yelling profanities at other family members. As both the officers and family members were attempting to calm him down, it is alleged that Montanez continually walked away from the officers after being told not to. Officers then attempted to handcuff Montanez who actively resisted. As a result, Sergeant Ian Rasmussen injured his elbow. Montanez was finally placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. He was later transported to the Essex County Jail in Newark, N.J. pending a hearing in the superior court.

(It should be noted that the charges against Montanez are merely allegations and that he is presumed innocent until he either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law)
