Fairfield Man Charged With Obstruction Following Motor Vehicle Stop

Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announce the arrest of Konrad Kwasnik (25) of Fairfield NJ, for obstruction on January 31, 2023.  The circumstances that led to the arrest are as follows:

While monitoring traffic on Route 46 East, SergeantThomas Myers conducted a random license plate inquiry on a passing vehicle.  The registration came back “not on file,” and Sergeant Myers conducted a motor vehicle stop to investigate further.  After speaking with Kwasnik, the driver and only occupant, it was determined that the vehicle was not registered and bearing fictitious license plates.  Ultimately, it was determined to impound the vehicle for these violations. Additional officers arrived on scene to assist.

Upon arrival of the tow truck to impound Kwasnik’s vehicle, it is alleged that he rolled up the windows, locked the doors and refused to exit the vehicle.  Several officers spoke at length with Kwasnik who still refused to exit.  A glass break tool was utilized to gain access to the vehicle at which time Kwasnik exited on his own and was immediately placed under arrest.  He was transported to police headquarters for processing, at which time he was charged with Obstruction of the Administration of Law. He was also charged with several motor vehicle offenses.

He was later released on his own recognizance pending an initial appearance at the Fairfield Municipal Court.

(It should be noted that the charges against Kwasnikare merely allegations and that he is presumed innocent until he either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law)
