Hollywood Avenue Overpass to Close for Repairs

Fairfield (NJ) After several weeks of delays relating to the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s reconstruction of the Hollywood Avenue Overpass, the overpass was finally closed to vehicular traffic today, July 23, 2021. The bridge will eventually be removed thus making it also closed to pedestrian traffic.

The overpass will remain closed to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic for approximately 9-12 months. Both the entrance and exits ramps to the overpass from Route 46 will remain open during this project. Some lane closures on Route 46 can also be expected.

Motorists should plan for alternate routes and should expect delays on other township roadways as these roadways attempt to handle the increased traffic on them. The police department thanks all in advance for their patience during this construction period.
