Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Daniel Werner (47), of Lyndhurst, NJ for driving while intoxicated on March 21, 2026.
On that date at approximately 10:39 pm, Officer Carmelo Caramanna was patrolling on Two Bridges Road when he located a disabled vehicle under the Route 80 overpass. He spoke with Werner, the driver, and detected signs and symptoms of someone who was under the influence, to include the odor of alcohol on his breath as well as glassy and watery eyes.
Officer Luca Catania arrived on scene to assist, and Werner then performed Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. Following the tests, he was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. His vehicle was impounded per New Jersey state law.
Werner was transported to headquarters for processing. It is alleged his blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit. Werner was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and careless driving. He was later released pending an initial appearance at the Fairfield Municipal Court.
(Charges are merely allegations until the defendant is proven guilty or pleads guilty in a court of law).
