Pair Arrested for Target Shoplifting and Identity Theft

Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Aidina Brown (42) of Jersey City, N.J. and Seinkeia John (38) of Brooklyn, N.Y. for shoplifting and other related offenses on September 23, 2020.

On that date, at approximately 6:22 PM, police were called to the Target store, located on Route 46 East, on a report of a shoplifting incident that just occurred. Target security was reporting that the two suspects, later identified as Brown and John, were in the parking lot and getting into a 2014 black Mercedes Benz SUV. Responding officers found the pair and detained them.

It is alleged that Target security observed the pair both take bedding items from the shelves and then proceed to the customer service desk where they allegedly returned the items as if they had previously bought them. The pair were then given gift cards in the amount of $339.07 for Brown and $430.77 for John.

The pair was placed under arrest and their vehicle was impounded pursuant to further investigation. It is further alleged that officers discovered the pair had several drivers licenses from other states, in different names but with their pictures on them and receipts and gift cards from a variety of different stores.

In addition to being charged with shoplifting, both were charged with possession of shoplifting tools, possession of false government documents, exhibiting false public documents, identity theft and conspiracy. Both were transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark pending a bail review.

The investigation is ongoing.

(It should be noted that the charges against Brown and John are merely allegations and that both are presumed innocent until they either plead guilty or are found guilty in a court of law)
