Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Xzavier Brown (23) of Paterson, New Jersey, following a motor vehicle stop that occurred on April 17, 2026.
On that date at approximately 9:22 pm, Officer Ryan Cleary conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2005 Saturn Ion for equipment violations that he observed. Upon speaking with Brown, who was the driver and only occupant, it is alleged that Officer Cleary observed multiple packaged Apple products in the back seat.
He spoke further with Brown who allegedly stated that he sells these “real” products at a discount to people as a side business. Officer Patrick Reynolds arrived on scene to assist, and it is further alleged that Brown offered to sell Officer Reynolds a pair of Apple Air Pods for $50. Brown could not provide any proof these items were legally purchased to the officers.
Further investigation determined that the products were counterfeit, which included the same serial number printed on every box as well as misaligned fonts. In total, officers located 26 counterfeit Apple products in the vehicle.
Brown was subsequently placed under arrest. All of the merchandise was collected as evidence and he was transported to police headquarter for processing. Brown was
charged with selling or attempting to sell counterfeit items and later released pending an initial appearance at the Essex County Superior Court.
(Charges are merely allegations until the defendant is proven guilty or pleads guilty in a court of law).
