Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Skylar Beecher (30) of Sea Girt, NJ for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence on March 2, 2021. On that date, at approximately 6:38 PM, the Fairfield Police Department received an anonymous call about a vehicle being driven erratically on Route 46 West. The vehicle was described as a yellow Chevrolet Corvette, and was last seen pulling into the parking lot of 363 Route 46 West.
Officer Patrick Reynolds came upon the yellow Corvette stopped in the entrance to the Fairfield Business Center. It is alleged that when the officer first approached the vehicle the driver, later determined to be Beecher, was slumped over the vehicle’s console, and was not responding to the officer’s directions. Other officers arrived at the scene and, after a short time, Beecher became alert.
It is alleged that Beecher displayed signs and symptoms consistent with being under the influence to include a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath, slurred speech, and glassy eyes. She also could not form coherent sentences and appeared disoriented.
At this point, field sobriety testing was conducted and, based upon the results and all of the other factors, Beecher was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for breath testing. Her vehicle was impounded pursuant to New Jersey law. While at headquarters, it is alleged that Beecher failed to comply with providing a mandatory breath sample.
In addition to the DUI charge, she also received summonses for refusal to submit to breath testing, careless and reckless driving. Beecher was eventually released on her own recognizance pending an appearance in the Fairfield Municipal Court.
(It should be noted that the charges against Beecher are merely allegations and that she is presumed innocent until she either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law)
