Check of Suspicious Vehicle Results in Arrest of Morristown Men

Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Lucas Cardona-Isaza (21) for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of over 3/4ounce canister of a chemical irritant and Oscar Naranjo-Bedoya (36) for possession of drug paraphernalia on June 9, 2019.

On that date, at approximately 12:38 A.M., Special Police Officer Felipe Maldonado was on patrol in the parking lot of the LaQuinta hotel, located on Two Bridges Road, when he observed a 2019 white Jeep parked in the lot with two occupants. Certain alleged suspicious activity undertaken by the vehicle’s occupants made the officer check further on it. The vehicle was found to be occupied by Naranjo-Bedoya in the driver’s seat and Cardona-Isaza in the front passenger seat.

Further investigation revealed that Naranjo-Bedoya was allegedly wanted by the Morris County Sheriff’s Department. He was placed under arrest without incident. The investigation also revealed the alleged discovery of a canister of chemical irritant that contained over ¾ of an ounce in the pants of Cardona-Isaza, as well as, a small amount of suspected marijuana. He was also placed under arrest. A few items of drug paraphernalia were also allegedly recovered from the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

After being charged, Cardona-Isaza was released on his own recognizance pending an initial appearance in the Fairfield Municipal Court on June 20, 2019. After being charged, Naranjo-Bedoya was turned over to the custody of the Morris County Sheriff’s Department.

(It should be noted that the charges against both men are merely allegations and that both are presumed innocent until they are either found guilty or plead guilty in a court of law)
