New York Resident Charged with Receiving Stolen Property

Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Louis Menatac (59), of Windsor, NY for receiving stolen property on April 13, 2023.  On that date at approximately 2:30 pm, Fairfield officers were alerted by Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) that a vehicle had entered town displaying stolen license plates.  The vehicle in question was described as a white Dodge Caravan, bearing license plates reported stolen off a Toyota Tacoma.

Officer Jayson Sickles was able to locate the vehicle traveling east on Route 46.  With the assistance of Chief Anthony Manna, they were able to conduct a high-risk motor vehicle stop.  Additional officers also arrived to assist.

The driver and lone occupant, Menatac, was placed under arrest.  It was alleged Menatac purchased the vehicle approximately one month ago via Facebook Marketplace with the same license plates, which were never re-registered and reported stolen.

Menatac was transported to police headquarters for processing.  He was later released on a summons pending an April 27, 2023 appearance at the Fairfield Municipal Court.

(It should be noted that the charges are merely allegations and that there is a presumption of innocence until Menatac either pleads guilty or isfound guilty in a court of law)
