Brooklyn Resident Arrested for Attempted Theft

Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Ryan Shivdasani (43), of Brooklyn, NY for attempted theft and attempted theft by deception. On April 1, 2023 at approximately 9:52 am, officers were dispatched to Wallington Plumbing Supply, located on Passaic Avenue, on a report of a customer on scene who made an unauthorized purchase.

Officer Frank Patierno investigated and determined that Shivdasani completed a purchase order claiming to be a private contractor for Russo Bros & Co. An employee from Wallington Plumbing Supply found this to be suspicious and contacted the owner for Russo Bros & Co. to confirm that this was indeed the case. The employee was advised that Shivdasani was not contracted by Russo Bros & Co. and the purchase order was indeed fraudulent.

Officers located Shivdasani, who currently had in his possession merchandise he had obtained with the fraudulent purchase order. He was located by officers en-route to a separate warehouse where he was planning to obtain other falsely purchased merchandise.

Shivdasani was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. Shivdasani was charged with attempted theft of movable property and attempted theft by deception and was released pending a May 25, 2023 appearance at the Essex County Superior Court.

(It should be noted that the charges are merely allegations and that there is a presumption of innocence until Shivdasani either pleads guilty or is found guilty in a court of law)

Issued by: Officer Stacy Chiarolanza (PIO)
