Fairfield Fire Department Battles Blaze at Animal Hospital

Fairfield (NJ) On January 4, 2020, at approximately 9:00 PM, the Fairfield Police Department received several 9-1-1 calls reporting a fire at the Animal Hospital of Fairfield located at 428 Fairfield Road. The first arriving police officers observed a heavy smoke condition in the building. The officers forced entry and determined that no humans or animals were inside.


The Fairfield Fire Department, assisted by fire departments from North Caldwell, West Caldwell, Cedar Grove, Verona, Pine Brook, and Lincoln Park, worked approximately two hours to extinguish the blaze. The West Essex First Aid Squad stood by as a precautionary measure and to assist with rehabbing firefighters.


No animals or people were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fairfield Fire Prevention Bureau.
