Possession of “Pink Cocaine” Results in Drug Arrest

Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrests of Joseph Pabon (22), of Clifton, NJ and Santiago Cardonavilla (23), of Paterson, NJ on charges related to a traffic stop that occurred on March 31, 2026.

On that date at approximately 10:38 pm, Officer Ryan Cleary was travelling on Passaic Avenue when he conducted a traffic stop on a blue Honda Accord for an alleged motor vehicle violation.

Officer Cleary spoke with the driver, as well as Pabon and Cardonavilla. As he spoke with them, he allegedly observed several open containers of marijuana inside of the car. Corporal Jeffrey Dean, Officer Sean McCormack and Officer Louis Bisciotti arrived on scene to assist.

It is alleged that Pabon was sweating profusely and extremely energetic during the stop, moving around and unable to remain still in the vehicle. The men were asked to step out of the vehicle so the officers could investigate further.

While the officers spoke with Pabon, it is alleged he provided two different accounts of the night’s events. A search of the vehicle by officers was conducted, and a bag was found containing a pink powdery substance known as “Tusi.” It is also commonly known as “2C” or “Pink Cocaine.” Additionally, drug paraphernalia was located, including a scale and small, clear baggies commonly used to package illegal drugs.

Pabon was placed under arrest. It is alleged that Cardonavilla had pink powder residue in his nose and was also placed under arrest. The driver was released from the scene.

Both men were transported to police headquarters for processing. Pablon was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine (approximately one ounce), possession of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and having open containers of marijuana in the vehicle. Cardonavilla was charged with being under the influence.

Pablon was transported to the Essex County Jail pending a first appearance, while Cardonavilla was released pending an initial appearance at the Fairfield Municipal Court.

(Charges are merely allegations until the defendants are proven guilty or plead guilty in a court of law).

Issued by: Officer Stacy Chiarolanza (PIO)
