Three Arrested for Shoplifting at Target

Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrests of Shamecka Morrison (36) of Passaic, NJ, Sharonna Patterson (36) of Paterson, NJ, and Michael Coleman (36) of Paterson, NJ for shoplifting at Target on March 7, 2026.
On that date at approximately 8:39 pm, Fairfield officers were dispatched to Target on a report of three individuals who had attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise. A description was provided to officers of two females and one male. Target security advised the females ran from the store towards the parking lot and the male left shortly after.
Officers Corey Perrette, Luca Catania and Carmelo Caramanna all arrived on scene and were able to locate Morrison and Patterson inside of their vehicle in the parking lot. They were both detained at that time. Corporal Steven D’Argenio and Officer Omar Qasem were able to locate Coleman and detained him as well.
Further investigation, along with video surveillance from Target, confirmed the three were involved in the shoplifting. It is alleged that all three individuals entered Target, filled shopping carts with various merchandise, and attempted to leave the store without paying. Once they were approached by security, they left the merchandise and fled. The total amount shoplifted was $1349.53 (Morrison), $473.29 (Patterson) and $152.88 (Coleman).
All three were advised that they were under arrest for shoplifting and were transported to police headquarters for processing. Morrison was charged with shoplifting, obstruction and conspiracy. Patterson was charged with shoplifting and conspiracy. Both women were released pending an initial appearance at the Essex County Courthouse on April 16, 2026. Coleman was charged with shoplifting and conspiracy, and later transported to the Essex County Jail pending a first appearance.
